Attendance

Consistent attendance at school ensures your child has the best chance of making sound friendships and developing good routines to enhance the learning.   If your child is going to be absent please contact the school office by phone, email or using the Skoolbag App before 9.30am everyday.  The school is required to account for all children enrolled at the school.  Without notification, the school will phone you, or your emergency contacts, to check-in on the whereabouts of your child.

Medical conditions
Please advise the class teacher of any past or present medical condition.  If your child is an asthmatic and needs Ventolin, we will require an Asthma Action Plan that has been signed by your doctor. These plans should be updated every year or when there are changes to your child’s health. Students should carry asthma medication at all times.

If your child is anaphylactic, we require an ASCIA Action Plan for Anaphylaxis, which has been signed by your doctor.
If your child is diagnosed with type 1 diabetes, they must have

  • a current individual Diabetes Management Plan prepared by the student’s treating medical team (provided by parents or carers)

  • a current Diabetes Action Plan prepared by the student’s treating medical team (provided by parents or carers); and

  • a Student Health Support Plan, developed by the school in consultation with the parents or carers and where appropriate the student’s treating medical team

  • a Medication Authority Form, detailing the medications required during regular school hours, the dose, administration and storage

Medicines should be given to their teacher or the office so the medication may be kept in a safe place.

The Healthy Lunchbox

A healthy lunchbox provides energy for your child to undertake their learning and play. Experience shows us a variety of healthy snacks are best for young children. Some suggestions: sandwich or roll, fruit, sultana packets, fruit box, cheese slice, carrot sticks, dry biscuit, muesli bar. Avoid chips, lollies and sugary foods. Their energy is short lived and students become tired more quickly.

Students should have a water bottle packed in their bag every day. Bus travellers sometimes need an extra snack if they are on the bus for an extended time.

Lunch heat-ups

Students may bring food from home which will go into the pie warmer and be available at lunch. Cost is 50cents.  Food needs to be supplied in foil or paper bags, clearly labelled with the child’s name and grade.

Breakfast Program
A breakfast program runs on Wednesday and Friday mornings all year from 8.30am. Cereal and toast are available, free, in the Kareeta building.
