Transition

Music technology.JPG

At Heywood Consolidated School, we promote positive, smooth transitions. This includes transitions between classrooms and specialist classes, between the Junior Wing and Senior Wing, between Kindergarten and Foundation, between Primary School and Secondary School, as well as transitions between learning throughout the day.

Our goal for our transition program is to better prepare your child and your family as they spread their wings into the next chapter of their schooling lives.

With the Kindergarten to Foundation transition program, parents/guardians/carers have the opportunity to have a tour with the school leaders and the principal.

Four independent sessions: Parents/guardians/carers will need to drop off their child with their snacks, lunch, water bottles and hats, and collect them at Room 8 in the Junior Wing. There will be parent information sessions with topics including; subjects, uniforms, schedules, lunches, illness/first aid, staffing, requisites, Victorian Curriculum, School Council, your involvement, general questions, etc. You will be able to meet some of our lovely staff as well.

With the Primary to Secondary School transition program, we support our departing students to get to know their next educational setting and support them with learning opportunities and discussions with secondary school teachers to assist them with their confidence and skills.
